September – October 2020

Events in Norway and Germany have been rescheduled.  Moscow House of Music apologized and cancelled the concert for children “Winter’s Fairy Tale”, which had been planned for December 19th.  The good news is some new music has been written.

On the three new works – «Nunc dimittis» for choir, a Symphony Allegory “Harmonisation of the World” for symphony orchestra, choir and organ and Romances on the poetry by Russian poet and philosopher Vyacheslav Ivanov from his poetic cycle “Roman Sonnets” – read here: “Ekaterina Melnikova’s new music, summer 2020”

Famous Russian animator and painter Leonid «Liolya» Schwartzmann turned 100 in 2020.  The celebrations have been a good reason to talk about the master’s illustrations to “The Carnival of the Animals”.  Ekaterina remembered how those comic pictures were created and how she did her own organ transcriptions of Saint-Saёns pieces.  Nina Wechsler has written down the story, here: “The Importance of Not Being Serious”
